Luke Qi
Luke Qi is joining Stanford’s applied physics program with the goal of building novel technologies that can one day benefit the world. Luke’s background in physics began with a love for space that led him to earn a bronze and silver medal at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics. Wanting to contribute technology to society, Luke earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Physics at MIT (2021). He conducted research in Isaac Chuang’s trapped-ion quantum computing group as a Keel Innovation Scholar (2019). At Stanford, Luke is working with Amir Safavi-Naeini (applied physics) on quantum nonlinear photonic devices with the hopes of building integrated quantum-enhanced sensors. Luke’s ultimate dream is to bring his laboratory work in power electronics, quantum devices, and photonics, and apply it to the real world at scale. Outside of academics, Luke loves to dance, hike, bike, and go on random quests.
