Recent breakthroughs in 2D van der Waals (vdW) quantum materials and their twisted stacks have opened an exciting frontier for discovering exotic quantum phases and advancing quantum information science. The light-matter interactions in these systems offer unique opportunities as sensitive real-time probes of the quantum phase transitions or as an effective manipulation tool of quantum states. At the same time, the materials themselves provide ultrathin photonic platforms that host single photon emitters and exhibit substantially strong nonlinearity, opening new possibilities for ultrathin quantum light sources. This Q-FARM workshop will bring together researchers who harness such unique light-matter interactions in 2D vdW quantum materials, spanning advanced characterization modalities, growth/fabrication, and photonic device integration to explore emerging electronic, photonic, and magnetic phenomena. Our goal is to create new collaborative opportunities, discuss remaining challenges, and proactively share forward-looking ideas for new directions.

This workshop is organized by Fang Liu, Jennifer Dionne, Feng Pan
